CAPSLOCK IS TOTALLY NECESSARY.

Just the other day, I was going through my craft area, organizing and doing some spring cleaning. I stumbled upon the inexpensive trainwreck mini sewing machine. I paid $15 for that thing at Jo-Ann.. Yeah, it was definitely a piece of garbage. It made learning to sew and actually tackling projects so incredibly frustrating, that I gave up really quickly. This was literally almost two years ago. I have no idea why I kept it all this time. I probably didn't want to completely give up.. I didn't want to accept total defeat. Anyways.. Blah, blah.. Well, when I dug it out of storage and while I was tempted to try again.. I decided against it and tossed it in the donate pile.

Then, the next day we're out thrifting as a family (that's how we roll) and we found this amazing gem!

DRUMROLL..

$20! AND IT WORKS.

I've already mastered the art of threading it and I've begun tackling some fun projects. The best part? IT WORKS AND I AM TOTALLY TEACHING MYSELF TO USE IT. It's awesome.

I'm really excited to talk about Groovebook. As someone who just had a little bundle of joy and is constantly trying to capture every. single. moment, Groovebook is nothing short of aaaamazing!!

Groovebook is an app that lets you upload 100 photos a month, and for just $2.99 they will send you a book filled with your printed photos! Perfect for collages, framing.. or my latest craze.. scrapbooking!

Yes, I swore I wouldn't be one of those moms.. but whatever. I'm keeping all of Liam's baby shoes and will eventually put them into shadowboxes, and I have one of his newborn diapers framed.. I'm one of those moms, can't go back now.

So, my craft space has been in utter disarray for months.. But since receiving my first Groovebook, I've been feeling inspired. So, I decided I would tidy up my craft desk and make it somewhat usable. My sister had given me a scrapbook and some supplies, and I finally put them to use!

YOU'LL NEED

- Fabric mod podge
- Needle
- Thread
- Fabric scraps
- Scissors
- Patience! :)

THE STEPS

First you'll want to find an image to use. The options are unlimited. You can freehand, or find an image online and print it out and use it as a stencil.
Take a section of fabric and apply an even coat of fabric mod podge. Once it's dry, it'll stiffen the fabric and make it easier to cut out your design. Some tutorials I have seen online say to cut out your design first, then apply the mod podge, which you can do.. but I found it easier to do it this way. Whatever works for you.
Trace and cut out your design.
Apply a GENEROUS, thick layer of mod podge and press firmly onto the tee
Once that's dry, sew around the edges with a contrasting thread color. This part isn't technically necessary, but it adds a little something and also keeps everything secure.
